Join us for a night to remember with stand-up comic and Emmy-nominated actress Yvonne Orji as she shares her frank and fresh advice book, Bamboozled by Jesus: How God Tricked Me into the Life of My Dreams. Comedian Roy Wood Jr. will join Orji in a conversation about her work. Expect to be entertained by Orji’s modern take on Biblical stories, inspired by her wild success, and captivated by her views on faith. Fear not, this ain’t your mama’s Bible study!

    Yvonne Orji is an Emmy-nominated Nigerian-American actress, writer and comedian. A failed doctor (blame organic chemistry), Yvonne took to comedy after needing a talent for a beauty pageant. Now, she entertains international audiences, as can be seen in her one-hour HBO comedy special, Momma, I Made It! A sought after speaker, she’s given the opening keynote at the Forbes’ Under 30 Summit, and her TEDx talk, “The Wait Is Sexy,” has garnered over a million views.     Roy Wood Jr., described as “One of comedy’s best journalists” (Forbes)  and “One of 10 Comics to Watch in 2016” (Variety), joined The Best F#@ing News Team in 2015 as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s Emmy-nominated The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. He is currently the host of two podcasts–Roy’s Job Fair and Beyond the Scenes–and his third stand-up special, Imperfect Messenger, premieres on Comedy Central on October 29th. Wood’s credits include The Neutral Ground (PBS), 1% Happy (HBO Max) and the upcoming film Confess, Fletch. Wood’s other work includes his previous standup specials No One Loves You and Father Figure as well as Comedy Central’s storytelling series This is Not Happening. Wood has also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Def Comedy Jam, Last Comic Standing, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Conan, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He has performed on numerous USO Tours, and during the pandemic, Roy spent time raising money for the displaced staff of comedy clubs through tipyourwaitstaff.com and Laugh Aid. In his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, his philanthropic endeavors include supporting Workshops, Inc., The DUBS Baseball Academy, STAIR of Birmingham and Also, I See Me, Inc.
