Wednesday, 7:00 pm EDT October 7, 2026

The Center for Fiction
& Livestreamed

Join us for the launch of Every Story Is a Love Story, the much-anticipated new novel from Imbolo Mbue, author of the PEN/Faulkner Award-winning debut Behold the Dreamers. Charting an uneven path from heartbreak to healing, Mbue’s latest book asks: What do we owe to those who have hurt us? Are we defined by our worst moments and our deepest regrets? Can forgiveness ease our suffering?

Every Story is a Love Story follows Wolo, whose life is upended when his pregnant wife dies in a tragic car crash. Over the course of three years, he slowly pieces his life back together by returning to work and connecting with a small circle of friends, easing his grief into a gentler backdrop for his daily activities. Just when his life is returning to a kind of normalcy, Wolo receives a letter from Victoria, the woman driving the car that killed his wife, seeking reconciliation. Despite warnings from his friends and family, Wolo arranges a meeting with Victoria—and her remorse and compassion affect him in ways that he never imagined.

Don’t miss this moving conversation on the impact of healing and forgiveness in a world where regret so often seems to triumph over growth. All tickets include a signed copy of Every Story Is a Love Story. In-person tickets guarantee a seat, and Mbue will sign books after the event.

Pricing inclusive of sales tax if applicable.
