The Plaza at 300 Ashland

Visit The Free Black Women’s Library on Sunday, October 31st from noon to 5pm ET at The Plaza at 300 Ashland for a special library session dedicated to all things horror, fabulism, science fiction, magic, speculative fiction, and fantasy!

Come dressed as your favorite writer or character from a book or play. Best costumes can compete to win literary gifts or prizes. All are also welcome to join us for Hoodoo and Black Magic Storytime at 2pm, as well as to trade good books written by Black women all day long.

The Free Black Women’s Library is a social art project that features a virtual reading club, a collection of 4000 books written by Black women, literary workshops, readings, performances, film screenings, and radical conversations. This interactive biblio installation pops up monthly in public spaces throughout Brooklyn and beyond. Book lovers of every age, race, and gender are invited to spend time with the collection, take part in all of our free public programming and trade good books by Black women.

This event is in collaboration with the Free Black Women’s Library and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. Programming at The Plaza at 300 Ashland is made possible by support from Two Trees Management Co. We kindly ask that attendees wear masks.
