What are your literary strengths? How can you capitalize on them?
This weekend workshop for writers at all levels will help you create new fiction or make progress on a project. You’ll receive generative writing prompts and a primer on craft fundamentals. You’ll gain insight into the effects of your writing on others and guided feedback to build on your strong suits. Between sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to revise what you wrote in class. The goal of the course is to give you a jolt of insight and inspiration so you can create your best work.
Course Outline:
- Day 1: I’ll offer guided prompts so you can generate new work and we’ll discuss various craft techniques
- Day 2: You’ll share your work and receive feedback from your peers and the instructor

This course is held online via Zoom.
We offer a limited number of need-based scholarships for our Reading Groups and Writing Workshops, covering 50% of tuition. Applicants selected for scholarships will be notified one week prior to the first meeting. To apply for a scholarship, please fill out this form.

Courtney Zoffness
Courtney Zoffness is the author of Spilt Milk (McSweeney’s, 2021), called “masterful” in a starred Publishers Weekly review and named to over a dozen “best of” lists. She won the Sunday Times Short Story Award, the most valuable international prize for short fiction, amid entries from 38 countries; she was the second-ever woman to win, after Yiyun Li. Other honors include The Center for Fiction / Susan Kamil Emerging Writer Fellowship and two fellowships from MacDowell. Her writing has appeared in The Paris Review Daily, The Iowa Review, The Believer, the New York Times, and other venues. She directs the Creative Writing Program at Drew University.
