Membership Levels
Founders Society membership levels are named for characters from three foundational novels: Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Aureliano Buendía from Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude, and Sula Peace from Toni Morrison’s Sula.

Elizabeth Bennet
Founders Society Membership for
Annual Donors of $1,000+Membership at the Elizabeth Bennet level includes:
- Access to our tech-free Reading Room, tech-friendly Lounge, and Terrace
- Borrowing privileges from our circulating collection of 70,000 classic and contemporary fiction titles
- A 15% discount on admission to special events, workshops, reading groups, and books and gifts in our bookstore
- Early access to writing workshops, reading groups, and special events
- Preferential seating to select events
- Invitations to members-only social events throughout the year

Building a Vibrant Home for Readers and Writers
As a Founders Society member, your support nurtures early-career writers with grants, workshops, a place to write, public readings, a literary community, and other services and awards through our Emerging Writer Fellowships and First Novel Prize; fosters creative expression for over 2,500 New York City public school children annually with author-led events, writing workshops, reading groups, creative writing contests, and their own books to keep through our KidsRead / KidsWrite Program; invigorates our award-winning 200-year-old library with new acquisitions; and brings hundreds of authors and artists to engage with audiences annually on timely cross-cultural issues through our Public Literary Events and Performances, which celebrate fiction in all its forms.
