This lecture will look into the rich world of satire through the lens of Percival Everett. Known for his sharp wit, keen observations, and clever commentary on contemporary society, we will explore Everett’s novel Erasure and how it characterizes the social and cultural issues surrounding author authenticity and truth in literature. Through this discussion of Everett’s work, we will develop a deep appreciation for the art of satire and its power to critique, provoke thought, and entertain.

Alcy Leyva
Alcy Leyva is a Bronx-born multi-genre writer whose first two books in the Shades of Hell series, And Then There Were Crows and And Then There Were Dragons, were published by Black Spot Books. His short stories have appeared in the award-winning anthologies A Midnight Clear and Dead of Winter. His YA book the silent, subtle, ever-present perils of life was released in 2023. He currently lives and teaches in New York City.
