In recognition of the 400th anniversary of the establishment of New York City in 1624, we’re exploring The Stories of NYC.
How well do you know Brooklyn? The third largest “city” in the U.S. has its own mythology and mystery, and in 1935 Thomas Wolfe explored the borough in an unusual, dialect-driven short story that takes place entirely on the subway. Let’s take a ride and see what you think he’s trying to say.
What to Expect from This Group: Participants should note standout passages and bring any questions about the story to the meeting. We’ll read a little from the story out loud, and then I’ll talk a little about the background of it. Then I’ll ask some questions to get us talking and move us into a free-flowing discussion.
Please Note: All virtual classes are recorded. Please click here for information about our recording policy. A link to the story will be sent upon registration.
