Many of the storylines from Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Misérables may seem familiar; the 1862 novel has fascinated audiences for more than a century and has inspired films, television series, and musicals, seen and beloved by generations. If you’ve always been intrigued (but, perhaps, intimidated) by the source material, join us this fall as we tackle Hugo’s magnum opus, a timeless story of revolution, poverty, love, drama, and triumph.

What to read before the first meeting: Please read Volume I of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo in advance of the first meeting.

What to expect from this reading group: Each meeting begins with some historical and stylistic background on the novel and author. Then, we discuss our opinions of the book—every participant will have the opportunity to engage in discussion.

Capacity: 20
