Contemporary fiction by Danish writers reflects a rich, multi-textured engagement with Danish society today. We’ll read four short novels, each ably translated from the Danish original and offering its own particular bounty of readerly pleasures. Collectively they’ll give us much to discuss–about Denmark, of course, but also about ourselves.

What to read in advance of the first meeting: Mirror, Shoulder, Signal by Dorthe Nors

What to expect from this reading group: I’m aiming for a relaxed and full conversation about each novel, focusing on formal/stylistic features as well as themes and implications. I’ll provide contextual information and framing for each conversation.
