In this course, we will write to grieve those who are still alive but no longer connected to us in the way they once were. These separations might have been borne of our own need for self-protection, or we might be grieving someone else’s decision to end a relationship with us.
Together we’ll write about the broken bindings of friendships, romances, family, and place, and we’ll use some art exercises to free up thoughts and emotions around these often difficult separations. Writers will be encouraged to share aloud when they wish, and compassionate written feedback will be provided throughout the course by the instructor.
Course Outline
- Session I: On the Broken Bindings of Friendship
- Session II: On the Broken Bindings of Romantic Love.
- Session III: On the Broken Bindings of Family.
- Session IV: On the Broken Bindings of Place.
