The Center for Fiction

This single-session group is held in person at The Center for Fiction. Registration includes a complimentary drink from our Café & Bar.

Join us to discuss Katherine Mansfield’s 1922 short story “Prelude,” a beautiful reminiscence of her upper-class childhood in Victorian-era New Zealand with a bewildering mix of old and new worlds.

What to read in advance of the first meeting: Please read the story before coming to the single session. A PDF of the story will be emailed to all participants and can also be purchased in this collection.

What to expect from this reading group: We will start with some background on Mansfield, the time of the story, and then open up for a wide-ranging discussion on character, theme, style, and more.

Capacity: 25
