This two-session group will revisit a beloved science fiction classic: Frankenstein. There’s always much to say about this text, so come prepared for a “book club” style meeting perfect for people reading Mary Shelley’s most famous novel for the first time, as well as those interested in re-reading and discussing it in a group setting.

What to read in advance of the first meeting: Please read Volume I of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley before the first session.

What to expect from this reading group: This will be a discussion-driven reading group with some background and context provided by the instructor.

    Dr. Anastasia Klimchynskaya

    Dr. Anastasia Klimchynskaya

    Dr. Anastasia Klimchynskaya is Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Illinois Wesleyan University. She is a scholar of nineteenth-century literature, with a particular interest in the intersections of science and literature. She has taught, published, and presented widely on science fiction, detective fiction, and the history of science, including appearing as a recurring co-host on the Rosenbach Museum’s virtual series Sundays with Frankenstein and Sherlock Mondays. She has also previously taught multiple reading groups at The Center for Fiction.
