In Person at The Center for Fiction
Across four weeks, trace the progression of Jane Austen’s career from her sparkling second novel Pride and Prejudice to her aching and melancholy last finished novel Persuasion. Participants will do a close analysis of Austen’s style—one of the most celebrated in the tradition of the English novel—as well as her structure and plotting.
What to read in advance of the first meeting: The first 50 pages of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
What to expect from this reading group: After providing a bit of essential history and context, instructor Joanna Biggs will lead a fun and informal conversation each session.
