A recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Glass is a Distinguished Writer in Residence at Emerson College. She lives with her family in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

She is also the editor of the fiction anthology Singapore Noir. Cheryl was a staff writer at the Wall Street Journal, InStyle, and the Baltimore Sun, and her stories and reviews have also appeared in the New York Times, Times Literary Supplement, the Paris Review, the Washington Post, and Bon Appetit, among others. Born and raised in Singapore, she lives in New York City.

Jeet Thayil was born in 1959 into a Syrian Christian family in Mamalasserie, Kerala. He was educated at Jesuit schools in Bombay, Hongkong, and New York, and worked as a journalist for twenty-three years before writing his first novel, Narcopolis.
