Zibby Owens, host of the hit podcast Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books, joined her mother Ellen Katz along with author Jewell Parker Rhodes (Ghost Boys) and her daughter, author Kelly McWilliams (Agnes at the End of the World) for a discussion on motherhood and the time management required to maintain an active reading life.
Owens’s anthology Moms Don’t Have Time To: A Quarantine Anthology explores the ever-increasing demands on a mother’s time, especially during quarantine, through a collection of essays from the likes of actress Evangeline Lilly and authors Rene Denfield (The Child Finder), Gretchen Rubin (The Happiness Project), and Chris Bohjalian (The Flight Attendant).
All proceeds from the anthology go to the Susan Felice Owens Program for COVID-19 Vaccine Research through the Mount Sinai Health System. The program is dedicated to Zibby’s late mother-in-law and helps fundraise for vaccine research. More information can be found here.

Moms Don't Have Time To: A Quarantine Anthology

For nearly three years, author, mother of four, and award-winning podcaster Zibby Owens has enthusiastically used her voice to address a widely acknowledged but rarely discussed issue: Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books. Through her podcast—dedicated to and named for this issue—and in dozens of literary salons and media appearances, she has introduced works of fiction and nonfiction that reflect women’s lives, allow them an escape, or shine a light on an issue that begs a conversation. What connects each project is the encouragement she offers women: to carve out the time to be engaged, to find pleasure in the pages of a book, or at least to make time for a literary chat with friends.
As the global pandemic took hold in 2020, Zibby created We Found Time, an online magazine of essays written by the authors she had come to know over the years and herself. The essays were inspired by all the things moms don’t have time to do—especially during the pandemic—like eat, work out, breathe, read, or have sex. It was an idea hatched before the coronavirus reshaped our lives, and it took flight in the confines of the lockdown.
