General Memberships

All renewing and new members can still use the 10% discounts on online workshops, ticketed events, and bookstore purchases during the temporary closure of our physical space in Brooklyn. However, your annual membership year officially begins the day our doors reopen to the public. (Please note this policy does not apply to digital memberships.)

Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. Please note that benefits are subject to change and you will be notified of any changes.

    • Evening cocktail bar service starting winter 2020! The upstairs member lounge will transform into a warm and inviting evening cocktail bar, open only to you and your guests!

    • Free monthly afternoon book group led by our Head Librarian Allison Escoto year-round
    • Discounted rates on space rentals
    • Unlimited guests. Must be accompanied by a member during their visit.

    Members must be 13+. Anyone between the ages of 13 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult member. 

    *For over 25 years, The Center has not permitted the use of laptops or cellphones by general members to encourage our community to unplug and sink into a good book or conversation without interruption from our devices. While peaceful, it is not meant to be a silent space and we do encourage members to strike up a conversation with each other.

This membership was created as a way to show our heartfelt thanks to the incredible support we’ve received from individuals all over the world! At this time, only those residing 100 miles outside of Brooklyn are eligible for a digital membership.

Gift Memberships

Give the gift of membership to The Center for Fiction—it’s the perfect present for your literary loved ones! 

When you buy a gift membership, a certificate will be emailed to you within 24 hours, so that you can print it out or send it to the recipient. It will include information on how to obtain a membership card in person.

Please be assured that we will not contact the gift recipient unless you specifically request that we do so.
