Membership

Become a member of The Center for Fiction and enjoy access to our second-floor members’ lounge and collection of more than 70,000 titles. Members also receive discounts on events, reading groups, writing workshops, and more.

Membership Levels

Your membership to The Center for Fiction is valid for one year from the purchase date. They are non-transferable and non-refundable. Please note that benefits are subject to change and you will be notified of any changes.

  • General Membership: Individual

    All gift memberships must be picked up at the second-floor librarian’s desk on Tuesdays through Fridays between 12 and 8pm. We will not contact the recipient. If you are buying this membership as a gift, provide the recipient’s full name, email address, and mailing address in the Additional Notes field at checkout.

    • $180/year
    • Borrowing privileges from our circulating collection of over 70,000 titles
    • Use of our spacious tech-free members lounge and meeting rooms*
    • 10% discount on events, workshops, reading groups, and bookstore and café-bar purchases
    • Early bird ticketing to special events
    • Free monthly afternoon book group led by our Head Librarian Allison Escoto year-round
    • Discounted rates on space rentals
    • 2 single-use guest day passes

    Members must be 13+. Anyone between the ages of 13 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult member. 

    *For over 25 years, The Center has not permitted the use of laptops or cellphones by general members to encourage our community to unplug and sink into a good book or conversation without interruption from our devices. While peaceful, it is not meant to be a silent space and we do encourage members to strike up a conversation with each other.

  • General Membership: Dual

All Founding Members will receive special commemoration on our prominent Donor Wall and will join our Founders Circle.

      • Elegant outdoor terrace

    • A 15% discount on admission to special events, workshops, reading groups, and books and gifts in our bookstore
    • 5 free guest day-passes that entitle the user access to the amenities of the members-only 2nd floor
