Independent Bookstore Day 2023

Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day with us!

11am–8pm: The Bookstore will be holding a “Take What You Can Carry” sale! Buy a Center for Fiction tote bag and fill it with as many books as you’d like from our sale cart.

11am–4pm: Salon D’Ayiti continues! A series of trilingual readings, panels, and book signings with Haitian authors in our event space, presented by the Haiti Cultural Exchange.

12–5pm: The Members Floor will be open to the public! Spend the day in our Members Lounge and Reading Room or out on the Terrace and see what it’s like to be a member for a day. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and give tours.

5–7pm: We’re hosting the After Party for the Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl! Pick up a passport from any of the 25 participating bookstores and visit as many stores as you can throughout the week to earn raffle tickets. We’ll be giving out prizes in the events space!

And did you hear about our Bookmark Design Contest for young artists? Stop by the Bookstore during the Brooklyn Bookstore Crawl (April 22-29), where supplies are waiting for artists (18 and under) to create a masterpiece that could be featured on our new bookmarks for young readers! We’re also accepting digital entries (3″ x 6″) by email at [email protected]. Please include the artist’s first name and age! Two winners will also receive gift certificates to the store. Submissions are due April 29th!
