Celebrate the launch of Don Winslow’s Broken, published by William Morrow. The prolific and bestselling crime writer will read excerpts from the book, discuss what inspired him, and answer audience questions. Winslow will be joined in conversation by Writers Council member and fellow crime writer Lee Child, author of the bestselling Jack Reacher thrillers.
This event is part of our In Conversation series: After years of solitary research, multiple drafts, and all the range of human emotions, the project is done! Fellow writers, editors, and visual artists talk craft, process, and story with the author.
Don Winslow is the author of twenty-one acclaimed, award-winning international bestsellers. The Border (2019), the explosive conclusion to the cartel trilogy (The Cartel, 2015; The Power of the Dog, 2005) was a publishing event, and selected as one of the best books of the 2019 by the Washington Post, NPR, the Sunday Times, the Financial Times, among many other lists. The trade paperback of The Border will be published March 4, 2020, followed by Winslow’s new hardcover, Broken: Six Short Novels, coming April 7, 2020. Some of his other novels include The Winter of Frankie Machine, Savages, and The Force. Savages was made into a feature film by three-time Oscar-winning writer-director Oliver Stone. The Force sold to 20th Century Fox with director James Mangold and screenwriter Scott Frank attached. The Power of the Dog, The Cartel and The Border sold to FX in a major multi-million-dollar deal to air as a weekly tv series beginning in 2020. A former investigator, antiterrorist trainer and trial consultant, Winslow lives in California and Rhode Island.
Lee Child is the author of twenty-four New York Times bestselling Jack Reacher thrillers, with fifteen having reached the #1 position, and the #1 bestselling complete Jack Reacher story collection, No Middle Name. All of his novels have been optioned for major motion pictures—including Jack Reacher (based on One Shot) and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Foreign rights to the Reacher series have sold in one hundred territories. A member of our Writers Council, Child is a native of England and a former television director.
