In this two-week workshop, students will read and write personal essays, find their authentic voice, and channel their most profound stories. This course is about creative discipline and personal discovery. Students will read exemplary texts by contemporary masters and immerse themselves in the arts of reflection, description, narration, and persuasion. Through writing exercises, workshops, and one-on-one sessions, students will draft and revise two personal essays—suitable for publication or the college application process. Students will develop transferable skills in composition, rhetoric, and critical analysis. The course will encourage students to transform their 2020 experience into a creative document and culminate in a public reading.
This course will take place online via Zoom. Participants will receive instructions for access prior to the first meeting.
