Considered one of the most anticipated books of 2019 (LitHub), The Sweetest Fruits by Monique Truong (Viking, September 3, 2019) is the fictional telling of Lafcadio Hearn as told from the points of view of his mother and two wives. Truong will be in conversation with food writer Mayukh Sen.

    Monique Truong is the author of three novels—The Book of Salt; Bitter in the Mouth; and now, The Sweetest Fruits, and her work has been published in fifteen countries. Her awards and honors include the PEN/Robert Bingham Fellowship, the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, the Asian American Literary Award, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters Rosenthal Family Foundation Award.

    Mayukh Sen

    Mayukh Sen is a food writer based in New York. He has won both James Beard and IACP Awards for his writing, and his work has been anthologized in The Best American Food Writing 2019. He is an Adjunct Professor at the NYU Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, where he teaches food writing.  He is currently working on his first book, to be published by W.W. Norton & Company, on the immigrant women who have shaped food culture in America.
