The Center for Fiction offers a variety of spaces to rent throughout our eight-story building for every type of event from photo shoots to formal lectures to cocktail parties to sets for filming. Some of our more popular spaces to rent are our beautiful, neo-classical second floor Reading Room; our contemporary screening room, perfect for presentations; and our cheerful and cozy Shattuck Room.
Equipment available to our renters: folding chairs, a podium, microphones and speakers, a projector and screen, as well as tables and coat racks. Kitchen facilities are not available, but refrigerator access is available.
The Reading Room:
Holding up to 75 people for a seated event or up to 100 for cocktails, the second floor Reading Room offers an oasis from the bustle of midtown Manhattan. Featuring classical library furniture, the room can accommodate either formal events or more casual affairs.
The Screening Room:
The Screening Room on our sixth floor features the latest in audio/visual equipment with a built in projector and screen. The room is the perfect size for meetings, retreats, or small gatherings.
The Shattuck Room:
The Shattuck Room holds the special collection of the critic Roger Shattuck. The room features fine art illustrations, a classical marble bust, and white bookcases, against a background of sky blue walls. It is adjacent to the Screening room and can be rented in tandem for retreats or all-day meetings.
