Notes on Fiction

In Fall 2012, The Center for Fiction launched a new cross-disciplinary concert series entitled Notes on Fiction. With a thoughtfully curated, fiction-inspired program, each concert captures the spirit of a book in sound, and features short readings of passages that inspired the musical program. Performances are followed by a wine reception, where the audience can mingle with the musicians.

In its premiere season, Notes on Fiction concerts featured Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork OrangeHaruki Murakami's 1Q84, and Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, with music ranging from traditional icons such as Beethoven and Chopin, to living composers Philip Glass, Lewis Nielson, and more.
