This program is part of our Inside and Out Pride 2020 literary series, which offers solace and affirmation to the LGBTQ+ community during a time of isolation from trusted social groups and support networks.

Most of us are assigned a gender at birth and raised that way. What happens when that gender doesn’t fit? For Jackson Bird, there were years of confusion without any transgender role models to help him. When he did come out in his mid-20s, he bravely shared each step of his journey with the world on his YouTube page. In his memoir, Sorted, he reflects on his unique coming-of-age story. Jamia Wilson, executive director and publisher of Feminist Press, will interview Jackson.

“[Bird’s] tale of self-realization is one he fearlessly and relentlessly shares with the world—and the world is better for it.” —Melissa Anelli
